During my childhood I grew up hearing “God is love, He is peace and He is joy”. The older I became it proved more difficult to understand how God could be love, peace, and joy after my heart had been shattered into a million pieces by a life-changing event that left me burdened with shame and guilt with a constant expectation for the worst in my life. Buying into the lie that I was not good enough because of my brokenness, I believed that God would only bring love, peace, joy to others except me. Falling for the lies of satan, who worked endlessly to rob my identity, satan kept me hostage and bound in his jail of fear.

Unworthy and full of shame, I often found my validation in others. People-pleasing left me feeling emptier and more broken every time. Tired of living a life that I knew wasn’t the life God wanted for me, bruised, broken, and exhausted, I came to a place of surrender. Willingly I gave up my own will, my own way, and my own thoughts to God in exchange for his own. It wasn’t until I invited God into my brokenness that I began to see God turning what the enemy had meant for evil being transformed into something good. I finally encountered God’s love pouring over me like never before.

Healing starts with God.

When you allow God’s love into the areas that fear has never allowed you to confront. Those difficult, unvisited places that aren’t difficult for God, He will help you overcome your hurt. He desires to heal you, all of you but it starts with you allowing him to work from the inside out.  Psalms 34:18 says “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” Not only does he promise to be close but God is in the midst of your brokenness, healing the wounds caused by your own tragedy. “He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds” Psalms 147:3

There is a peace that comes when we place our trust in God. Life in a freedom filled with peace in knowing that we are secure in Him and that no matter what comes our way, we can run to our Father and find refuge.

Today, I encourage you to trust God for your healing meaning that in spite of the challenges and trials you face, today may you have the strength to turn towards Him instead and not away.

Jesus is hope, Jesus is joy and Jesus is love and because of his deep love for us, He died on the cross for you and me. Bringing hope to the hopeless, healing the brokenhearted, and bringing abundant joy that only He can offer. My prayer for your today is that you will also come to a place of surrender and encounter God in a life-changing way. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
